Where the story began.
Japanese origins
Born in Okinawa. Crafted in Japan.
Enagic traces its roots to Okinawa, Japan, and has specialised in home water ionisation technology since 1974. Founder Hironari Ohshiro began with a clear purpose: to develop high-quality water ioniser systems that could produce fresh Kangen Water in everyday homes.
The word Kangen means “return to origin” in Japanese. It reflects a philosophy built around water as a foundation of daily life, supported by Japanese engineering, precision manufacturing and long-term product care.
Okinawa's Blue Zone status provides cultural and geographical context. It is not evidence that Kangen Water causes longevity or any particular health outcome.

Why facilities are adding hydrogen-rich water.
Fitness and recovery businesses already invest in the environment around training, including equipment, heat, cold, compression and treatment. Hydration is used more frequently than any of them.

First, hydration
Water does the hydrating.
Whether it is filtered or hydrogen-rich, water replaces fluid. That matters before training, after sweating, and around saunas or other heat-based recovery sessions.
Then, the difference
Hydrogen-rich water adds dissolved H₂.
The K8 does not add sugar, flavouring, stimulants or a powdered supplement. It filters suitable tap water, then uses electrolysis to produce drinking water containing dissolved molecular hydrogen. That H₂ is the point of difference researchers are studying in relation to exercise-related fatigue, oxidative stress and recovery.

What is molecular hydrogen?
Molecular hydrogen is hydrogen gas dissolved in water. Exercise naturally creates reactive oxygen species and a temporary inflammatory response as part of adaptation. Researchers are studying whether hydrogen-rich water may help influence excessive exercise-induced oxidative stress, fatigue and recovery. The evidence is promising but still developing.

What makes hydrogen-rich water different?
A standard filter can improve taste and reduce the contaminants it is designed to target. The K8 adds another process: electrolysis, which produces dissolved molecular hydrogen in the drinking water as it is dispensed.
Oxidative stress
Exercise naturally increases reactive oxygen species. Research is exploring how molecular hydrogen may interact with harmful oxidative stress while normal signalling processes continue.
Recovery and fatigue
Hydrogen-rich water is being studied in exercise settings for markers connected with fatigue, muscle function and recovery. Evidence is developing and individual results vary.
Performance potential
Early research has explored endurance, perceived exertion and exercise performance. It is a promising area of study, not a guarantee of a specific athletic outcome.
Hydration without the extras
The K8 creates hydrogen-rich drinking water from a suitable water supply without adding sugar, flavours, colouring or stimulants.

pH measures how acidic or alkaline a water sample is, with 7 considered neutral. The K8 produces seven selectable settings from pH 2.5 to 11.5. The drinking range reaches pH 9.5. The strongest acidic and alkaline settings are clearly designated for non-drinking applications.

Bottled water variesIts pH depends on the source, mineral content and processing. A bottle should be assessed by its label or a current test, not assumed to be acidic.
K8 drinking settingsThe K8 provides selectable drinking settings commonly shown as pH 8.5, 9.0 and 9.5, plus filtered neutral water at pH 7.0.
pH is not the H₂ measureAlkalinity and dissolved molecular hydrogen are different characteristics. One should not be used as proof of the other.
Actual output varies with source-water chemistry, flow rate, installation and maintenance. Confirm drinking settings with the machine instructions and local water conditions.

Introducing Kangen Water
It starts with filtration, then goes further.
Kangen Water is produced when suitable tap water is filtered and electrolysed through the K8. The result is freshly produced ionised drinking water containing dissolved molecular hydrogen.

Why not the filter you already have?
Filtered water is not the same as hydrogen-rich, electrolysed water.
If your only goal is to improve taste and reduce selected contaminants, a standard filter may be enough. If you want fresh molecular hydrogen, multiple water settings and a visible member experience, you are comparing a different category.

What a standard filter does
A conventional filter is designed to reduce the specific contaminants listed for that filter and may improve taste and odour. It does not produce molecular hydrogen.

After filtration, the K8 uses electrolysis to produce fresh hydrogen-rich water at the point of use. Molecular hydrogen is being studied for its potential relationship with exercise-induced oxidative stress, fatigue and recovery.

Is the K8 simply a water filter?
No. It includes filtration, but its defining stage is electrolysis across eight platinum-coated titanium plates. This produces multiple water settings, including hydrogen-rich drinking water.
Does the K8 use reverse osmosis?
No. Reverse osmosis and electrolysis are different processes. The K8 retains naturally occurring minerals because conductivity is required for electrolysis. Additional pre-filtration is selected around the local water supply.
Can one unit serve an entire gym?
That depends on member numbers, peak usage, desired access and the facility layout. The K8’s published drinking-water flow rate is considered during the assessment; higher may apply for busy sites.
What installation is required?
The system generally needs a suitable water connection, nearby power and drainage for the secondary water outlet. The exact setup is assessed before installation.
Is finance available?
Eligible purchasers may be able to explore payment-plan options. Availability, terms and approval are handled through the relevant provider and discussed individually.
Can my business earn from referrals?
